This 3-piece kit detects microscopic cracks and surface flaws in metals, plastics, and ceramics, revealing them clearly as red marks against a white background, so even hairline defects invisible to the naked eye become easy to spot.
The kit works as a simple 5-step process using three purpose-formulated products. Start with the Prep-Solv Metal Cleaner/Degreaser (240g) to strip away oils, greases, and surface contaminants without leaving residue behind. Next, apply the Red Dye Penetrant (300g), which seeps into any micro-cracks present in the weld seam or surface. Finally, the Detecting Developer (300g), a white powder suspended in solvent, pulls the trapped penetrant back to the surface by capillary action, exposing any flaws for inspection.
This method is also known as Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) or Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI), and is suitable for locating surface-breaking defects in all non-porous materials, not just welds.
